ABOUT the JACKIE PORTER MEMORIAL FUND

The Jackie Porter Memorial Fund (hereafter referred to as the 'JPMF'), was established by your Theatre Organ Society Board of Directors as an official ongoing entity to ensure that future cost of concerts and/or major repairs and upgrades to our Wurlitzer, will be covered adequately.

The JPMF will 'kick in' when artist fees may be higher than normal due to additional travel expenses, or special lodging arrangements occasionally encountered when we want to bring you the best organist from the East coast, Europe or Australia.  Such expenses are subject to the Board’s approval as warranted.  In order to sustain the JPMF, the Board has created three methods.

  • The first is from profits acquired from special designated “Blockbuster” programs that we will promote aside from our regular season concert series
  • The second method allows the Board to designate a percentage of the profit from any season series concert, or a TOSSD co-sponsored event with another organization to the JPMF
  • The third is to solicit donations, that the benefactor specifies should be placed into the JPMF.  Anyone is welcome to donate individually to this fund at any time

Your Board of directors is hopeful that the JPMF will ensure our longevity of the chapter, and that it will allow us to bring in top artists in the future that we normally may not be able to afford.

We thank you for your faithful support on past programs and encourage you to attend the special “Blockbuster” presentations as well as all of our regular concert series!

What is the Theatre Organ Society
of San Diego (TOSSD) all about?

The Theatre Organ Society of San Diego (TOSSD) is a local chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS), and is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to the preservation of the Theatre Pipe Organ - and to further the use, understanding and appreciation of this unique musical genre.

We truly believe that the theatre pipe organ deserves a permanent place in American musical culture, and it is our collective mission that we do our part to preserve this musical icon for future generations of musicians, historians and enthusiasts.
